What to do in Danbury

The City of Danbury, Texas is south of Houston off Texas State Highway 35. It has a population of 1,671 as of the 2020 Census. Construction of the Missouri Pacific Railroad brought growth to the town in the early 1900s. It officially became a city in 1960. There is a mayor and city council.

Take County Road 171 into Danbury, or take State Highway 25 to TX-28 Spur and head southeast into town. From the south, take Peltier Rd into Danbury. Then connect to 5th Street. Most of the small downtown is a grid pattern with numbered and lettered streets.

Danbury City Hall and Municipal Court is in a single-level brick building. The brick is two-toned. The building says “Danbury City Hall” in large letters, and there is also a sign for the police department. The building has a brown roof. There is parking on the street. Wells Fargo is across the street.

John Vasut is the Judge of the Danbury Municipal Court. Judge Vasut previously served as a police officer for the city. He holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Brazosport College. The alternate judge is Richard Davis.
