Fort Bend County is in southeast Texas. It is next to Harris County and southwest of Houston. Portions of the City of Houston stretch into Fort Bend. Richmond is the county seat and Sugar Land is the largest city located completely within county borders.
The county takes its name after a bend in the Brazos River. Since its founding in 1837, the county grew quickly with cotton as its primary crop. Where is traffic court in Fort Bend County?
Traffic cases are heard in Fort Bend County Justice of the Peace Courts and Municipal Courts. Fort Bend County has four Justice of the Peace Precincts and five total court locations throughout the county. In addition, each city has their own municipal court to hear tickets involving their law enforcement authorities.
Justice of the Peace and Municipal Courts hear Class C misdemeanor cases, which are most traffic offenses. More serious offenses may be heard in state district court or a county court.
